Ironically, the rich Trump, who once hangs out among black celebrities, is now throwing racist statements and promoting the course full of White Power. We talked with Taj about this phenomen: why it all happened and how the black and white people perceived it.
Basis of your zine is Trump's relationship with black celebrities. What do you think, why this relationship was important for Trump?
The anointed representatives of the Black Community. Oprah Winfrey, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton. Black, Successful, Business, Community Involved. Those are the important ones, little shit got done, and sponsorships fell through, big business conferences happened, banquet. Michael Jackson plane photo with the Middle Eastern brother is something else. This guy wasn't a «‎president figure» at the time. He partied, made money, bought high class prostitutes, talked a lot of shit but smiled more, then he had a reality show and is a sexual offender.
The relationships were important but did they have a solid agenda? Maybe.. Money got put in places. But were the relationships important enough to place blacks & other oppressed humans in better place? Most of the other pictures speak 1000 words such as «‎Hey» «‎Yo» «‎My Man» «Ahh Nigga Please». A-List celebrity events, gatherings, radio-show, & conferences. Those relationships run off status & class. None of them are important, if they were genuine, he'd wouldn't be president.
What was the reaction of the celebrities in those years on Trump? You said that rappers often praised Trump and his money.
I think not only celebrities that had «‎relations» with Trump felt awkward. Any minority, of anyclass felt the manipulation & isolation by their government. White people of ALL subgenres as well, definitely endured manipulation. He was accepted throughout the celebrity community. Celebrities oppose him now. Most celebrities are for the left right? Or are dem/lib i'm sure.
Rappers used his known success as easy metaphors. Relationship thoroughness is questionable, due to lack of music video cameos. He was not a core influence. They treated him like they would treat any rich white known person who was showing interest. Because that puts blacks at a fault because any rich white person can be on tv & act as president of the United States of America.
Why did these things start to change? When Trump start new campaigh and forgot his friendship with black people? And why do you call Trump's new course «‎white power»?
I dont think its that deep, it's all business. No one in business is sad to leave someone behind especially if it involves ones self progress. The results are clear.
His course of white power, Trump is the all american influence of a southern white over middle aged male. His blunt politics infuse white power. The dialogue of a city population 500, southern truck stop bar.
How did the American people take it? The politician, who used to maintain friendship with black selebrities, is now practically denying this and throwing racist remarks. How did the black and white people react to this?
White people dont really give a fuck honestly? They know overall statistics expose the pinch of effect these next 4–8 years have on them. Then some really do care and they sacrifice, preach & use creativity to submit themselves to the anti-trump movement. Some of it works, some receive the «‎you still dont get it'».
The Black nation did not sit back as if this was anything before 2004. We rallied, we created, we marketed, we kneeled, we fought, we got shot, we expressed ourselves, we expressed who we are on the inside. These last 10 years black people in america have really been putting in serious effort to find their culture & background, taunting it, showing it off really letting it be known. I say we are in the mid 70s era of Blackness in america right now. We are going back in time, the 60's will rise soon.
Is it right, that name of your zine is an attempt to remind America about the fact that some years ago Trump was more adequate and close to the youth culture? Or what? What is the message you put into the zine?
No. Because I do not remember in my youth culture which is fucking awesome, where we gave any care to the celebrity trump. We didn't really see these photos then, to market to us that Trump was «‎down». My Message is to understand that everything about this whole thing is a sham, Politics & Political genders are horrible and they seperate the world and always will and always have. Power. This was out of pure fun, and humor. It is also for white people mainly, I wish I could have put whites only. So the studdard educated SEC Frat boy could make excuses of the photos & relation to now as if trump is actual a troll.
You said that googling photos was a lot of fun. What photo was the funniest?
Michael Jackson, Donald Trump Private Jet, Middle Eastern Brother In The Cut. Lets really break that one down. Most interesting one by default.
What do you think, after today Trump's mad, what will happen next?
I think it's time humans see like aliens or angels, or supernatural beings, e.t.c. Like a dead person come back alive, and talk about what happened. We need something to bring us to light.
